The Papers of Thomas Jefferson - Princeton University
Nursing School Essay | University of Texas School of Nursing. I was rifling through some old love letters when I found my application essay to the University of Texas School of Nursing ( UTSON ). I think posting it here will give current nursing students an example of an papers of, essay that undergraduate admission panels are looking for. Personally, it is lab report interesting for me to reflect on my relationship with nursing–my initial hopes and papers of, dreams, the harsh reality, and my commitment and loyalty to a challenging profession. It truly makes sense that I would find my nursing school essay lost in a box full of torrid love letters. Nursing is a Way of Life. When contemplating a career choice, psychologists often suggest revisiting the activities that one took pleasure in as a child. Unwittingly, children engross themselves wholeheartedly in activities that bring them the greatest delight and Sustainability, contentment.
As adults, those qualities equate to stimulation and satisfaction–two elements necessary to papers sustain a successful career. In my youth, I enjoyed playing “schoolteacher,” more importantly however, from the ages of essay research, six to fifteen, I tended to the needs of my chronically ill grandmother. Papers Of. During this period of time, the idea of playing nurse never crossed my mind; rather, care giving was a way of life. The magnitude of influence that caring for my grandmother had in shaping my career decisions is immense; although it was unknown to me for quite some time. A distinct correlation was made early in my employment as a Clinical Assistant at Seton Medical Center. While holding the hand of a patient, as he passed through the stages of a stroke, I recognized the tone and delivery of lab report, my words as that which I used when comforting my grandmother during a similar event. Papers. Amidst the chaos of the medical team, I became overwhelmed with a sense of complete wholeness that I had not felt before.
I become acutely aware that my childhood care giving role had provided me with a unique ability to invest myself fully into the health and i live, wellbeing of others, in the very same way that I had done with my grandmother. In addition to caring for patients, I also maintain an affinity for teaching. Of. The delight I found while playing “schoolteacher” as a child derived from the act of Sustainability, sharing new information with imaginary students. Papers Of. My thirst for knowledge and the desire to share is no less prevalent now as it was then, however my knowledge is based in scientific method, holistic healthcare promotion and nursing theory. Nursing synthesizes care giving and teaching in a way that utilizes my natural strengths while benefiting others. Is Real. The intrinsic value of papers of, caring for lab report example my grandmother and my desire to share knowledge provide me with undaunted motivation. My core professional values embody the need for empathy and ethical conduct while holistic treatment is imperative in effective healing. Unfortunately, the current state of healthcare does not allow maximum nurturing to individual patients in papers hospital settings. Attaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree allows me to consult, collaborate and coordinate healthcare policy on an administrative level.
It is there where decisions are made regarding patient-to-staff ratios, staff hours, conditions, benefits, and rate of pay. If one is to change the environment of nursing in a clinical setting, it must be done by a leader in a policy making position. I understand that the best efforts resulting in change are those that alter the system from the inside; armed with a UT BSN, that is where I will position myself. I am confident, however, that my propensity for statement for why at the p.o teaching may someday replace practical, hands-on patient care and papers of, administrative duties. The lack of qualified professors in the area of nursing will perpetuate the absence of Environmental Sustainability, university degreed healthcare professionals in the industry.
Without degreed professionals, advancement in papers many areas of nursing will suffer. Chem. With love of nursing as my greatest tool, I hope to inspire students to engage in of its field of study. Advancing the field of nursing is not only a professional success, but a personal success as well. Nursing is not a conscious choice that was cultivated by a college advisor or a team of psychologists; it is who I am–it is my past, present and future. My natural inclination lead me to the field of nursing where I wholly and unwittingly applied myself and found immeasurable stimulation and satisfaction. For me, nursing is not merely an opportunity for a sustaining career, it is who I am; care giving has always been and will continue to be a way of life. Be Used For Scientific Research? Carter, printed on a recycled or kraft-style paper, gives the resume a custom, hand-printed feel. When applying for papers of a position where a more creative approach isn’t appropriate, it’s always a safe bet to opt for Environmental Sustainability a simple, text-based resume with clean fonts. Here, Frank Schamhart has embellished his resume slightly with minimal use of an accent color and a small personal portrait. If you’re after a job in papers, the arts or some other highly visual industry, make your resume a mini portfolio like illustrator Rianti Hidayat has done here. Bradley Brooks keeps his resume businesslike with a classic black-and-white color scheme, but livens things up with a modular layout and a personal logo. Infographic-style resumes have become popular, and they can be effective when done well.
But they should be more than a collection of pretty pictures; the thesis for why i live at the, images should, at papers of, a glance, tell something about Environmental you and complement or enhance the papers, text, like in this resume design by Rachel Winter. If you’re seeking work in an industry where appearance is important, or the philosophy is real, job has asked you to papers of, include a portrait, try integrating it into your resume. It doesn’t have to be the center of attention, though — you can make it a bit more subtle by using a small picture or placing it behind a colored screen, like in Egotype’s resume template. Mailing out some resumes? Make opening yours up a memorable experience, like Amber Van Mieghem has done with this clever folding resume. Wishing you could infuse a little creativity into your plain, corporate resume? Try a monogram with your initials, like Bill Mawhinney has done for art museum this resume template. It adds a little style while still keeping the overall presentation very businesslike. You can use the same graphic on papers, your cover letter to chem, give your application a polished, pulled-together look. If you have some creative leeway in creating your resume, using a non-rectangular shape will be sure to papers of, attract attention, like John Mujica’s round resume does here.
If you do format your resume in any unusual shape, just make sure all the text is example, readable. You’ve only got one name. Papers Of? Make it memorable. If it’s unique, highlight it. Make it big and bold, like Fredrik Andresen did on his resume. Give the hiring manager something to zero in on. Your font choices can change the whole character of your resume. For instance, the rounded fonts with soft edges that Louis Omari has used for his resume have a more casual, friendly feel than sharper, serif fonts might have. Need to Environmental Sustainability, show your qualifications on the run?
Post your resume online and make it mobile-friendly, like Julien Renvoye has done. Papers? You can include your resume on art museum, your personal website or even post it to networking platforms like LinkedIn. Use blocks of papers color and/or lines to separate different sections of on should research your resume, give it structure, and papers make it easy to navigate visually. This template from Beautiful Resumes features vibrant colors, but you could just as easily get the same effect with a more subtle color scheme. Environmental Sustainability? If you’re going the infographic route, think of effective ways that you can use different types of graphs to represent your skills, experience, or background, like Martin Suster did here. Organizing your resume with columns, like this three-column layout Anton Yermolov used, keeps the information tidy, creates clear divisions between sections, and helps you keep everything sharply aligned. Use a sidebar in your resume to call attention to of, extra (or extra important) information that you want to highlight.
Here, Ola Hamdy used a colored sidebar to for why i live at the, separate her personal and contact information from her educational and professional details. Papers? Although this resume design is text-heavy, Gershom Charig mixes things up with a two-color scheme and chem lab report example a word cloud to creatively represent the breadth of his skills and papers of experience. Similar in function to the word cloud above, various sizes of circles represent Silviu Schiau’s proficiency in various areas, such as management and Sustainability design. The size of the circles corresponds with his amount of experience — a fresh way to papers, illustrate core competencies. Give the person looking at your resume an excuse to find out more about you. Including a link to your website or portfolio (or even a QR code, as Krysten Newby has done here) acts as a good prompt. If your job history includes working for thesis for why at the big companies with recognizable logos, feature them on papers, your resume. Tamas Leb has included space to do so on this resume template, and it makes an impressive statement, even at a glance.
For creative resumes, a theme can give you a starting point to is real, build a one-of-a-kind design and think about innovative ways to present your information. Here, Peter Kisteman’s laboratory theme makes a strong visual statement and gives his artistic background a scientific, experimental dimension. Papers? Putting your resume in a folder or other kind of holder gives you more space to showcase your experience and career accomplishments, plus the extra tactile feature makes it memorable, as with this design from S1M. The vertical timeline on the outside offers an immediate visual representation of the candidate’s career history. This traditional black, white, and gray design by Brice Seraphin brightens up quite nicely with some turquoise as an papers accent. This can be done with any color (and you may want to tone it down depending on your industry), but vibrant hues have particular impact. Besides being another nice example of using an philosophy essay what is real accent color, this design by Adam Rozmus keeps things clean and simple, showing that resumes don’t have to be fancy to make a good impression. If competition is stiff, try standing out papers of, with a resume package that gives you some space to demonstrate your abilities, develop a personal brand, and include more information than the animals, limited area of of a one-page resume allows for. Here, Sabrae Precure uses a distinct color scheme and custom illustrations to stand out from the lab report example, crowd. Papers? This resume by Environmental, Gabriel Valdivia combines a traditional format (the typical positions, dates, and short descriptions) with pictorial elements that provide a more personal touch.
As if to say that a normal paper resume just won’t cut it, Alison Root got clever with her resume presentation, which demonstrates that she thinks outside the box. This sample resume from of Rahul Chakraborty features bold typography and art museum bright colors for a high-impact look that will make people take notice. Of? There may be times when it’s ok to let your sense of humor shine through in your resume; it makes you more relatable, more likable. For instance, check out the pronunciation guide Nick Iannuccilli provided for his difficult last name. Using a border is a good way to add a little bit of thesis i live p.o color to your resume, as Evelien Callens has done here, without worrying about looking unprofessional. Papers? Stylistically, this design is philosophy what, a good compromise between customary and more creative resumes. The two-color, mostly traditional layout uses graphic elements sparingly but purposefully. As a nice touch, Dan Hernandez has branded his cover letter with the same style, which is a smart idea if your job application involves submitting multiple documents. Sometimes you have to do what you can to get noticed. For an illustrator like Lucia Paul, hand-drawing her resume is papers of, both appropriate for her industry and gives her a standout way to display her skills. Big, bold typography, a high-contrast color scheme, and a well-organized presentation all combine to statement for why at the p.o, make sure Joao Andrade’s resume gets looked at.
No long-winded explanations of job roles here. Just the papers, essentials — enough to get someone interested in wanting to on should animals for scientific, know more about Gianina Santiago and her background. Clean, sans-serif fonts, relatively little text, and lots of white space give Maxat Malbekov’s resume a sleek look that’s easy to achieve if you condense your resume down to only the of, most relevant information. Is Real? If you have a lot of papers information you need to for why at the, fit on one page, take a tip from this design by Halle Rasco and use easy-to-read fonts and clear headings for each section. Need to keep your resume fairly conservative?
A two-column layout with a businesslike blue-gray accent color gives this otherwise traditional resume from ResumeBaker some extra interest. Syril Bobadilla’s illustrations are whimsical and of kid-friendly, and her resume reflects that style. Notice how she also created matching business cards for a cohesive personal brand. Even if your industry doesn’t allow as much creative expression as someone in the arts, you can express your personality in more subtle ways, like through font choices or an accent color. Resumes don’t always have to read from left to right, top to bottom.
You can play with the layout of your resume to make the best and most visually interesting use of the space you have available, like Milena Filipova has done here. You can use a grid structure to organize your resume and make it easier to thesis for why p.o, navigate, similarly to of, how Orlando Silva designed this template. If applicable, you might also try including some pieces from your portfolio right on Sustainability, the resume (so your abilities are on papers of, display at first glance). Statement For Why I Live? As you can see from the examples above, there are many approaches you can take to designing your resume. Of? But no matter what style or format you choose, there are a few things you want to make sure to get right: Readable text Industry-appropriate style (if unsure, play it safe with a conservative design.) Updated and accurate information No spelling/grammar errors. Now it#8217;s your turn.

How to papers, Write the essay on should animals for scientific, Introduction of an Essay. I would dearly love to of, take the following set of words and thesis statement for why i live at the p.o engrave them on of a large wooden bat: “Hi. Career Objectives Essay For Scholarship. I’m going to tell you about…”. “Today I’m going to write about…”. “This is papers of my essay on…”. “Since my professor told me I have to…”. The bat would have a prominent place in my classroom, mounted on the wall, so I could point to it, give a big toothy grin, and say, “If any of you, at any time in your life, ever use these words again to begin an essay—even thirty years from now—I will hunt you down, wrap your essay around this bat, and Environmental Sustainability use it to give you a sharp reminder of this lesson.”. This is, perhaps, a bit dramatic, but I feel it would clearly make the point. The first words of an essay are like a handshake or a cover letter for a resume; they create the first impression.
If they are strong, confident and papers jovial, then you are setting yourself up for success. If they put forward the metaphorical “dead-fish” hand, then you’re work has been deeply injured, even if what follows is top-notch work. Introductions matter, and I have designed this article to art museum essays, provide a framework for of, how to write essay introductions that are clear, strong and statement engaging. The concepts are applicable to the essays of middle school and papers high school writing all the way up through writing in college and graduate school. The Wrong Way to Write an Essay Introduction. The phrases mentioned above, along with countless others, are the art museum, perfect way to completely destroy your essay before it even begins. If you begin your essay with these words, or anything even remotely close to them, no one who is not being paid or who is not your mother will ever read your paper—and even they will groan within themselves as they read. An introduction has two basic purposes:
…to introduce the topic of the essay in of clear and concise terms. …to engage the reader so they actually want to read what you have to say. Sadly, many students address only the first of them. For the most part, this makes perfect sense. After all, the writers who really understand what it means to engage their readers are the professionals. Why? Because they know very well that their readers are their bread and statement for why i live butter and papers of they will leave at a moment’s notice if the writing becomes dull. Students, on the other hand, have a captive audience. Teachers and professors are paid to read the work of their students, so why should the student care if their writing is engaging? Consider this situation, which both I and numerous other teachers and professors I know experience regularly: I assign a three to chem, five page paper to a classroom of twenty-five students. A few weeks later, I now have a book of around one hundred pages to read, written by papers of, twenty-five different authors who are writing this because they have to, not because they want to, so their apathy is literally dripping off the pages.
Imagine how I will react when I come across a student who finally takes the time to generate some genuine interest in the subject and what is real catch my attention! This is why students should care. The wrong way to begin an essay is to simply and papers of dryly explain what the essay is essays about. While this is of acceptable in chem example elementary school, and perhaps up through a certain stage of middle school, it is unacceptable by late middle school, through high school and most certainly at papers of, the collegiate level. Still, this kind of opening is Environmental all too common. An Essay Introduction Sample: The Wrong Way. To make this discussion clear, here is a sample introduction written the “wrong way.” This is written at the level one might expect from papers a student in middle school or early high school. These points are just as relevant to college students and adults, however, because, while the points a college student would make might be more nuanced and detailed, many still write introductions that follow the same basic pattern. Describe the major accomplishments of Abraham Lincoln during his presidency. PROMPT RESPONSE (INTRODUCTION ONLY): Abraham Lincoln accomplished many great things during his time as president of the essay for scholarship, United States.
He saw the United States through the Civil War, helping to keep the country from falling apart and signed the papers, Emancipation Proclamation, freeing all the African Americans in the United States from slavery. When things got tough, he encouraged his citizens and his troops through great speeches like “The Gettysburg Address.” And, finally, as both a political leader and a military leader, he led in a way that emphasized wisdom through shared responsibility and discussion. For Why I Live At The. Abraham Lincoln was one of the great presidents of the United States. This introduction clearly establishes the purpose of the essay and lists many accomplishments of Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. As such, it is both adequate and also painfully boring.
Ninety percent of your class will write an essay introduction just like this one—don’t be one of them. The Right Way to Write an Essay Introduction. Catching the Reader’s Attention. A good essay begins with an invitation into a rich discussion. The writing is crafted in such a way that it sparks anticipation and excitement in the heart and mind of the reader. Simply stating your opinion or the topic of the essay will never accomplish this. Engaging writing requires thoughtful attention to creating a hook for the reader. Hooks can be created in an infinite number of ways, but here is a list of approaches that often prove valuable.
Note that this is a list that you have likely seen before (most schools provide such a list), but be sure to read on papers of as it is in the implementation of these ideas that they either succeed or fail: Start with a thought-provoking quotation. Art Museum. Start with a thought-provoking question. Tell a thought-provoking story. Make a surprising statement. Present a simile or a metaphor to introduce your essay topic. Each of these options presents an approach to opening an essay that can work if it is papers of implemented effectively. Of course, implementing them effectively is where things get tricky. A Thought-Provoking Quotation:
Depending on the topic of thesis for why i live, your essay and the resources you have available, it can be very effective to begin with a direct quotation from a relevant source on your topic that brings up key ideas or presents controversial opinions. You, as the author, can then respond to them and establish your position in of relation to this statement. Be certain the art museum, quotation you choose directly relates to your chosen topic. A Thought Provoking Question. Opening essays with questions is dangerous because they only papers of work if the question causes your reader to genuinely wonder about something. Thesis I Live P.o. Simplistic or obvious questions turn your reader off, so try another approach unless you are sure you have a question that really ties your essay topic to something personal for the reader or to some intriguing idea in the world.
A Thought-Provoking Story. As a fiction writer, this is my personal favorite. There are two options available here. One approach is to papers of, tell a true story in close-up intimate detail that directly relates to your topic. The other option is to craft a story around the factual details of your topic and helps to objectives essay, humanize it—taking your reader into papers of the personal human experience of someone in a given situation related to your subject. Simply be sure to tell the story well and don’t forget to animals be used for scientific, craft the story in such a way that it leads directly to the central point of your essay. Make a Surprising Statement. This one is also a tricky way to go unless you have come across a very striking fact or are dealing with a controversial subject. In order for papers, this approach to work, the statement must include something that will genuinely surprise the reader, which is difficult to do. In addition to shock value, the statement must also have direct relevance to your topic so that a strong transition can still be made into your central argument.
Present a Simile or Metaphor. Similes and metaphors are among the essay, most powerful linguistic devices available. When used well, they can bring profound interest and insight to papers, a given topic. Using them well is, of course, the Sustainability, hard part. The trick to using them well is be sure that the nature of the symbol you use shares a great deal in papers common with the subtleties of the topic you are discussing. The broader and more specific those connections are, the essays, stronger its linguistic power. The very best way to use a simile or metaphor in an essay is to introduce it with the opening paragraph and then continue to weave the connections between the symbol and the subject throughout the entire essay, eventually bringing the papers, idea back together in the conclusion to create a circular structure to the writing. Chem. This requires insightful thinking and hard writing work, but makes for an exceptional essay. Clearly Establishing Your Purpose. With your reader’s attention now in place, you must be certain that you also directly address the question or prompt to which you have been asked to respond. Of. A colorful and engaging opening story is all well and example good, but it is worthless if it does not lead into a straight and clear statement of your thesis (also known as “topic sentence” or “position statement”).
Keep in mind that, contrary to of, what is often taught in elementary school, the opening paragraph does not necessarily require a complete listing of the main points of your essay, though that can be helpful at times. The only non-negotiable requirement for an introduction is a direct and clear statement of purpose somewhere within that first paragraph. With more creative openings, it generally occurs near the close of the first paragraph, anticipating the deeper explanations that take place in the body paragraphs of the philosophy essay is real, essay. Papers Of. Feel free to be creative, but do not forget to directly address the question you have been asked! Practical Pointers for Writing a Strong Introduction. Here is a collection of thoughts to keep in mind as you begin to craft your essay introduction: Remember that the audience is always right. More advanced writers should follow the same approach using deeper and more nuanced language. Describe the major accomplishments of Abraham Lincoln during his presidency. PROMPT RESPONSE (INTRODUCTION ONLY): He stood on a grassy hill beneath a clear blue sky in the soft breeze of spring. Around him, the birds chattered in statement for why i live the trees, completely oblivious. They did not see the stains that lay strewn across the field.
They paid no attention as the men, with grim and of dirty faces, removed the on should research, last of the bodies. Papers Of. They were children—or, at on should be used for scientific, least, they seemed so to him. His countrymen killing one another. He closed his eyes and sighed.
